Sally Timms; a cowboy, a beastie, a collaborator, a Mekon. This is one of her solo recordings. The photography was done by the noted photographer Larry Sultan. Mr. Sultan’s photography determined the design and typography of the package.
I saw Larry Sultan’s collection “The Valley” and was particularly taken with the photograph of Sharon Wild. These were scenes of porn stars between shoots and I was struck by the fact that it was hard to gauge what the subject was thinking as she looked directly into the camera from the edge of the unmade bed in her underwear and fuck-me stripper heels…somehow I made contact with Larry (don’t remember how) to ask if we could recreate that photo for my album cover and he very kindly offered to shoot it himself. I don’t think I managed to replicate what was going on in the original but I was looking for something that was ambiguous and told some kind of hidden story. I do still have the heels, I think, but they were impossible to walk in. How women dance in shoes like that is beyond me. Larry was lovely, RIP a great guy and a great photographer. – Sally Timms
